environment chief visits for rehab of ex-Rohm site

John Hanger, Pennsylvania's secretary of environmental
protection, visited the Bridge Business Center in
Bristol this morning for the installation of a clean-energy
system on the rooftop of a former Rohm & Haas
laboratory being renovated for research, office and
classroom use.
The seven gas-fired micro-turbines on the 50,000-square-foot
center were paid for with a $1 million Pennsylvania
Energy Development Authority grant announced by Gov.
Rendell in March.
The center's developer, the Keystone Redevelopment
Group, is projecting more than $2 million in savings
on energy costs over a 10-year period as a result
of the turbine system. As much as $150,000 a year
of that will come from the sale of energy back to
PECO, Keystone said.
The project is one of the first in the state to receive
funding through the federal American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act, according to the Department of Environmental
Protection.
